About

One bench, small runs, open designs

Made of Waves builds compact electronics for people who would rather modify a tool than buy a sealed one.

Made of Waves is a small hardware shop in Portland, Oregon. We start from open hardware designs, refine the firmware and documentation, and build units in small batches so every one gets assembled and tested by hand.

Our first product is a build of Solder Party's KeebDeck Basic, a pocket QWERTY keyboard, shipped with our own QMK and VIA firmware. Our original designs, starting with the Sparrow field controller, are on the bench now.

Everything we sell stays open: firmware sources, layout files, and setup guides are public, and the docs cover the modifications people actually make.
